Role Description

The Product Manager role at Remote Year will be leading the charge for the creation of technical solutions and information flows for our customers and staff. You will be utilizing internal and external resources to create technology products that will help bridge the gap between our current capabilities and our ever-increasing needs as a rapidly growing organization. Projects and products may include building new concepts from scratch, enhancing existing solutions or utilizing industry research to bring together opportunities from other industries to drive the efficiency of our work and travel business model while delivering a delightful experience to our customers.


  • Lead the collection of business requirements, user stories and other data-gathering efforts in all technology related efforts
  • Drive build vs buy strategy for all technology decisions based on ever evolving business needs
  • Oversee for tech infrastructure & strategy (custom builds and SaaS tools) as a whole and how pieces come together to support the business needs
  • Manage the product life cycle from planning to deployment for each software or technical implementation identified by the operations team
  • Manage team of developers and/or contractors, helping instill our culture, brand and values into their work
  • Lead all product launches and release planning, working closely with both operations and sales/marketing to ensure staff are knowledge of features and strategy behind launches


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in building technology, specifically focusing on the software development and managing development teams
  • Demonstrated success building internal technology systems for an organization with small development teams
  • High proficiency in Google Sheets required
  • Experience in early stage high growth non-tech start up a plus
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance and be comfortable operating in ambiguity
  • Experience building technology using Ruby on Rails or React a plus
