Remote Year is a program for global professionals, during which we travel for a year with interesting people while working remotely (12 cities, 12 months). Role Description

Remote Year is a program designed to help people grow personally and professionally as they travel around the world. One key support function of the experience is two Program Leaders who travel with each community for the entire year to provide customer support, foster community, and deliver the experience in collaboration with Local Teams. As a Program Teams Manager, you will be ultimately responsible for the support, management, and success of Program Leaders. You will work closely with all members of the Experience Team, and have many touch points with the Program Leaders who are your direct reports. You will manage your team remotely, with your Program Leaders on 1-4 different continents at any point.

  • Be level headed and solution oriented - when times are crazy, you are always the calmest head and leader to the path forwards.

  • Live and breathe Remote Year - You won’t just manage Program Leaders you manage and talk to Remotes - you’ll live with them, work with them, and form strong relationships with them.


  1. Contribute to the overall success of Remote Year program operations through aggregating information, identifying trends, and improving processes

  2. Support the hiring and training processes for future Program Leaders

  3. Promote a culture of development and solution orient among team members by providing coaching, tools, ideas and resources to help Program Leaders excel in their roles

  4. Own and manage the performance of assigned Program Leaders including weekly meetings, team meetings and other methods to both set expectations and monitor performance

  5. Provide support to Program Leaders and directly to Remotes troubleshooting issues and ensuring customer satisfaction across the Remote Year platform

Experience and Requirements:

  • 3+ years of team management experience in related environments that tightly integrate work and social environments

  • 2+ years of travel experience

  • Experience managing complex projects with diverse teams

  • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance and be comfortable operating in ambiguity

  • Full time travel required
